If you have been saving up My Coke Reward points from the codes inside the cartons and in the caps of Coke products, for a special treat; you can also use a portion of those to help give toys to children in need this holiday season by donating points here
on the My Coke Rewards page. That's another simple way to give back without spending a lot of money.

Give Safely and Wisely

When you give to a particular charity, you expect the funds you give to go for the people in need. In most cases; the funds go towards the right people; but there are a few scam artists that will try to get you to donate supposedly for a cause only to pocket it for themselves. So how can you be sure the money you give gets to the right individuals? You can go by word of mouth(but that's not always the best solution), or check the charity with sites such as the Better Business Bureau, Charity Navigator or similar sites. With all the charity drives, these sites will help you find a trustworthy charity that deserves your trust and generous donation.

Walkathons aren't just a great goal if you're trying to get in shape or do something active with family and friends, but is a terrific way to raise funds for causes that you believe in.  Even though I'm a bit of a couch potato(reforming), I have participated in the local diabetes walkathon before. It just requires some preplanning to be able t walk 3 or so miles if you haven't ben doing that much activity.

On Saturday, October 16th at the ATT Field,   ,
The American Heart Association 2010 Tennessee Valley Start! Heart Walk will begin at noon. You can see more info about this and other charity events here at .
The Step Out  Walk to Fight Diabetes wll be held at the Chattanooga Zoo   on November 6th   at 9 A.M.  You can find more info at the American Diabetes Association website.
If you aren't in the Chattanooga area, please check out the American Heart Association's website and the American Diabetes Association's website .

  •  First of all, thank you for visiting my blog.
  • Secondly, I had hoped to make this blog a more interactive place for myself and others to promote their favorite charities. The interaction isn't happening as well as I'd hoped. Maybe it's my fault,  I don't know for sure. I'd love to hear from you, even if it's criticism. So feel free to comment away or post a response to the photobucket album. Please make your voice heard even if it's a negative comment on the form below or on twitter and facebook. I'm a big girl, I can take it!  I miss hearing from you.

  • I got this post idea from AriWriter.
  • You can see how to promote your favorite cause on this blog here on an earlier post
