Easy Ways to Make A Huge Difference During The Holidays or Anytime

• `  If there is a nursing home, children's home, or a home for children with special needs, consider "adopting " them this season as a family, group or individual(not in a literal sense). Then, visit them and consider giving a small gift such as socks or something else(first check with the center as to what they are allowed to have)
• If you are in a church choir or school choir, ask the choir director if the group can go caroling at a local nursing or children's home.
• The Ronald McDonald House collects tabs from Coke cans. Consider saving those and dropping them by your local Ronald McDonald House when you have a substantial amount.  
• If you knit, crochet or do any type of sewing; there are charities in need of your skills; for abandoned babies, for US troops, and other charities

Creative Giving Challenge # 1:Raid Your Kitchen!

Before you cook that turkey for Thanksgiving or plan your Black Friday Christmas shopping, go to your kitchen and prepare to raid your refrigerator and pantry. Go to the pantry first with an empty cardboard box and put any canned goods that you don't plan to use in the next 2 months. This food is to be given to your local food pantry. Once the box is full,  label it and put it in the back seat or trunk of your car and take as soon as possible to your nearest food bank. You can find your closest food bank at Feeding America's website.The next part of "..your mission should you decide to accept it...,"

 is to raid your refrigerator. Be sure to get rid of any food in your fridge or freezer that you suspect might be bad and throw it out! This time go through your food and check to see if it can be used in a casserole or other recipes that you can cook and freeze ahead and take to a sick fruend or neighbor , or to an elderly friend who might need company and a good meal, or to a funeral or other occasion. If you find some odd ingredients, many recipe websites such as Krafts, Allrecipes, and food,com have a search by ingredient feature. Go and let me know what happens!

             When you give to a particular charity, you expect the funds you give to go for the people in need. In most cases; the funds go towards the right people; but there are a few scam artists that will try to get you to donate supposedly for a cause only to pocket it for themselves. So how can you be sure the money you give gets to the right individuals? You can go by word of mouth(but that's not always the best solution), or check the charity with sites such as the Better Business Bureau, Charity Navigator or similar sites. With all the charity drives, these sites will help you find a trustworthy charity that deserves your trust and generous donation.

This is a place for everyone to have around 15 minutes, more or less of fame to promote awareness for your favorite cause. One person can't do everything for all charities or even 1 charity, but we can all do our part, whether it's a big task or small-all are greatly appreciated.

  , a comment here, or a link to a blog about your favorite charity. Please place it here in the comments or email me at ccol4him@gmail.com . No spam or scams., please.
Examples for comments/videos/blog posts could be;
"I'm John Doe(use your name or a user name) and I think charity x(or your charity name) is a star-worthy cause because...... .
(Or even better, if you are a volunteer at the charity and have permission to shoot a video; show some examples of the work and/or services that the charity does/provides). Video length should be about 15 minutes or less.
SOME GROUND RULES
1.Charity must really exist(no scamming or pleas for personal aid). It is preferable that the charity has some kind of accreditation; either national or state licenses, or listed at charitynavigator.org or .charitywatch.org .
2.All comments, videos and assorted content must be PG or G rated language and etcetera.
3. The blog author reserves the right of choice whether or not to feature or not feature a charity or related content on this blog.
4. No repeats of the same person for the same charity, but once a month, by comment or email.
THANK YOU! We can work together to make a difference in our world. I look forward to hearing from you! I will probably feature 1-3 or so charities/ and related content per blog entry-and I'm going to try to blog here at least 1-3 time(s) per month.
