ApplaUSe For A Cause: Should the US Continue Space Travel?

Should NASA continue space travel and research or could the money used for NASA be better spent on more worthy concerns? This subject concerns Americans greatly -those Pro-NASA and those against. While the funds used by NASA might be better used to defeat poverty and disease; there are also many beneficial ideas and discoveries that may have been missed if space travel had never happened. Sure, there's a lot of risk and a lot of expenses; but there have been many scientific
breakthroughs and discoveries. Could those have been made on earth? Would the money be better spent on programs for the homeless or for people who don't have health insurance? I know there would be some job loss, but would it result in jobs in other areas? What do you think? Please let me know by commenting below.
